South of France

Montmirat …a small rural village in South of France

Ever since I was a little girl, I have dreamed of visiting the South of France.  So when my brother invited me to go on a week’s holiday to stay at a friend’s home I jumped at the chance - how could I refuse to spend a week at a traditional French home in the small village of Montmirat ( which for those unsure of where it is, it’s just a short 45 min drive to Montpeliar) . Up for 3am and we set off from London by car.  The journey was long,  8hours and despite being very tired, I was like a little kid; full of enthusiasm and excitement.  I really couldn’t wait to arrive. After a couple of stops, we eventually arrived at dusk. It’s hard to explain, but I felt, as we arrived in Montmirat, the village was typically ‘French’, rustic, just as I had imagined, the house, just as I had envisaged. The quietness, peaceful atmosphere, vineyards as far as the eye can see, the big, beautiful sun was just setting; I was really walking into my dream!! Odielle and Isak, our friends who own this fantastic house, already had the BBQ going..  as this wasn’t enough, we were sat there in their garden, waiting for supper, I could smell fresh air, fantastic food and of course French wine!! The photos I have added on this blog, are just a small taste of what life there is like; simple, carefree and idyllic. It’s a life no-one would say no to, who knows? One day maybe!!
